About the Candidate 
Egondu M. Onuoha

Bio

Egondu Onuoha, a seasoned and dynamic leader in the field of nutrition and dietetics, is the Vice President of Real Estate and Special Programs at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York City. With over two decades of dedicated service, Ms. Onuoha has significantly impacted community health through her administrative oversight of the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), serving over 25,000 clients across 7 Brooklyn sites. And last year, she served as a turnaround President for a $200 million dollar revenue organization where she was able to bring in a few million dollars working with the C-suite to stabilize the organization financially and move them into a positive cash flow.

 

Her credentials are extensive and diverse, including Registered Dietitian (RDN), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDN), Grant Professional Certified (GPC), and a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND). Her previous roles encompass Director of the Prenatal Care Assistance Program (PCAP) and WIC program, and Administrator of the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) and Diabetes Program.

Ms. Onuoha's candidacy for the President of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is built on a foundation of proven leadership, strategic vision, and a relentless commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her board experience, including her prior role as Director at Large for the Academy, coupled with her expertise in fostering operational excellence, program expansion, and financial management, uniquely positions her to lead the Academy towards a future of innovation and inclusivity. She has served on multiple committees for the Academy including the Council on Future Practice, The Committee on Lifelong Learning, the Quality Management Committee, the Scope and Standards of Practice Taskforce, Academy Foundation Scholarship Reviewer for over 10 years, Women's Health DPG Executive Leadership, and more recently, the Finance and Audit Committee. 

 

Egondu's vision for the profession encapsulates embracing technological advancements, enhancing the role of dietitians in policy-making, and expanding the profession’s influence in diverse and unconventional sectors. Her campaign is a testament to her passion for elevating the profession and empowering dietitians to lead in the ever-evolving landscape of health and nutrition.
